Many people ask us about the single OLA fire incident in Pune. Why has OLA has not released any public investigative reports? After speaking to EV owners community, here are some thoughts and questions to OLA management
-------- Our observation when we visited the future factory is that OLA electric themselves have not found the root cause on why it happened. There is a technology built into the S1 Pro's controller called the OLASense, which dynamically adjusts the performance of the scooter as it manages various battery parameters sent by the BMS and other systems. Our theory is that OLA Sense failed in that particular case. Now the company has to investigate why it did not activate and prevent the thermal runaway. Or at least help us understand on what cases will OLA sense fail? OLA Electric has not even released any analysis on the logs that were sent to the server. For example, what happened one hour before the incident? Did they notice any abnormal behavior in riding patterns? We ask the management and they are tight-lipped on this. OLA's management can't just brush this under the carpet and expect people to forget. They now have more than 35,000 customers, and they need to know if the RnD team have indeed analyzed the scooter and continue to make improvements to OLA Sense, BMS and more. There are rumors that the customer tampered with the vehicle, if true, OLA should show us some proof. But those are rumors and we wont believe it. The least OLA management can do is write a technical blog on their website on what investigation has been done so far. They owe that much to their customers.
